Amazing ski resort. I went in mid August when the weather was perfect. There is no A/C in any of the rooms because it never gets gets above 75 degrees there. Lots of available hiking with different skill levels and trails. There isn’t much in the way of restaurants or shops, but if you love the outdoors and seeing absolutely stunning views, this is the place for you!

Kirkwood is one of the most extreme and exciting ski resorts. It has over 14 lifts and plenty of great runs to challenge yourself. The views are incredible from the top of Sunrise! If you are a beginner, I suggest going to Timber Creek and trying the bunny run. It’s short and easy. The only downside to Kirkwood is the parking during the weekends and heavy traffic.Otherwise,
this is a great ski resort.

Great mountain ski resort. Reasonable daily ski lifer price compared to other nearby mountains. A large mountain, with many blue/black groomed runs, facing different directions, so useful if the winds came up in one direction, there were other runs to use to get into calmer areas to ski. Loved it! Plus there were hardly any queues or people on the slopes (mid February).

I only ever leave good reviews but I had to leave a bad review for this place. Kirkwood mountain resort has no air conditioners for any of the accommodations, which is fine for a ski resort in the winter time. It is July 4th. It is 87° in my room and it is 71° outside and the windows are open. The hotel staff left at 6:30 right as I checked in. I got to my room and the door code did not work. I had to call off-premise and after about 30 minutes finally got a code that would open the door. Once I got access to the room is when I realized there is no air conditioning. Because it is the 4th, of July I don't have the option of finding another place this late at night. I hope this review helps somebody avoid this situation.

Karkwood Ski Resort boasts remarkable slopes adorned with fresh snow, offering a diverse range suitable for all skill levels, from gentle green slopes perfect for beginners to exhilarating double black diamond trails for thrill-seekers.

The rental staff provides exceptional service, taking the time to ensure each visitor finds the perfect fit. Their meticulous attention ensures both comfort and performance on the slopes.

For those eager to learn, the resort offers both group and private lessons for skiing and snowboarding, catering to all ages from 3 years old to adults. The teaching staff prioritizes safety and individualized instruction, ensuring a rewarding learning experience for all.

Parking options include both free and paid spots, providing convenience for visitors.

However, one area of concern is the pricing of food, which is notably expensive. Items such as a veggie burger priced at $22, hotdogs at $10, and cocktails at $20 may seem excessive considering the quantity and quality offered. Despite this, the resort does provide a complimentary water refilling station, a thoughtful amenity appreciated by guests.

Still one of the best kept secrets of skiing and riding in the Tahoe region. I have snowboarded at every resort in the Tahoe area and I like all of them. Some a little more than others. Each has its own feel, scenery and terrain. Heavenly, Palisades, Northstar, Sugar Bowl, Sierra at Tahoe and the list goes on. On a powder day they are all fun! But, there is something about the KW feel that you do not get at the other resorts. Perhaps because it's not technically in the Tahoe area. The people at KW seem more laid back and less like, "my beach, my wave" or "my mountain, my snow. You get the drift.
I haven't seen this much snow up here in a l-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ng time. If you haven't been up to the Sierra this winter you owe it to yourself to go see how much snow is up there right now. It is highly unusual to be 200-250 % of snow pack this time of year. Try KW if you haven't experienced it yet. You will love it ☮️

Great skiing, loads of snow and varied terrain. The staff were friendly and helpful giving the whole place a very relaxed and playful vibe. Not too busy even at the weekend and definitely worth a trip back to. Only complaint is there's a lot of slow lifts. Some fun spots to hike to and lots of cornices and gullies to play in.
