My wife and I spent a wonderful day at Wild Dunes Resort this December (2024), and it was truly magical. We started our day by sampling delicious fare at Coastal Provisions and Coastal Crust, two fantastic dining spots within the resort. Since it’s the off-season, we found the atmosphere peaceful and relaxing—there wasn’t the usual hustle and bustle of summer, so we could fully unwind and take in the quiet coastal beauty.

One of the highlights of our trip was strolling along the beach and then catching the sunset by the Boardwalk Burger Bar area, where the two pools are located. The view was breathtaking, with the colors reflecting on the water and the shoreline. Throughout the resort, everything was decked out for the holidays—Christmas trees, lights, and lots of cozy fires scattered around the grounds. In the village area, we noticed a mix of smaller, real-wood fires and large (8-foot diameter) gas fires, each surrounded by inviting rocking chairs.

It was also fun to see that they had Santa events for children, as well as Christmas carol singing, which gave the whole resort a festive vibe. As someone who’s been visiting Wild Dunes for 23 years, it still feels fresh and memorable every time I return. Whether you’re a family, a couple, or grandparents looking for a relaxing getaway, I highly recommend coming here—especially during the holidays when the beach takes on a whole new flavor. You get the best of both worlds: a tranquil off-season escape, plus all the warmth and excitement of the Christmas season.

I even got to catch up with some old friends who work at Woodies, Security, and Seagrass, which added a personal touch to the day. Thank you to the entire Wild Dunes team for another memorable visit. We can’t wait to come back next year!

Our favorite place!!!! Close to the beach and great amenities. Avoid staying at Sweetgrass on the 5th floor, it is so loud… we have stayed there twice, both miserable. The bar is right above the rooms and if there is a private party, you’ll hear it all night. At Thanksgiving, I believe their storage is up there, so we heard tables rolling across the floor at 3am. Just avoid it. Boardwalk is great, and the condos are great!!

This location is amazing!! The rooms are beautiful with stunning views! Great, charming, helpful staff all over the property. The fireplaces and rocking chairs are the best. We enjoyed nightly fireside chats! They have s’mores kits in the gift shop too if that’s your thing. And be sure to wake up early, walk to the beach, and watch what God does with the sky in the morning. Its truly breathtaking

The food is the main thing I would not recommend here. The coffee lunch and dinner were not it for me. I was here on business so I didn’t get to leave the resort as often as I would like and let me tell you- It’s really hard to be this close to sooo much great food in Charleston and not be able to enjoy it. But if you have your car and are mobile, this is a great place! Just grab your meals from somewhere else.

We stayed at Wild Dune Resort as a family (2 adults and a 14-year-old) for five days in August 2024 and had a wonderful experience. We initially had a minor issue with our assigned room, but the management quickly resolved it, upgrading us to a beautiful sea-view room, which we really appreciated. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and featured a lovely terrace overlooking the pool with a stunning view of the ocean.

The hotel’s amenities are definitely in line with its high standard. The only downside for us as Italians, used to dining after 8 PM, was that most restaurants close by 8 or 9 PM, which was a bit limiting.

The beach is fantastic and very easy to access. Pool towels are conveniently available 24/7 through automated dispensers using your room key, and you can exchange them multiple times a day. Our son enjoyed the tennis courts and ping-pong tables, while we all had fun around the bonfires making s’mores.

Overall, it’s a place we would gladly return to, and we highly recommend it for families seeking both relaxation and entertainment.

the hotel is very good and the services are correct the swimming pool is clean and the room too. but ... be careful with the valet parking they are kids who take your car and in my case, I have a car a little exclusive and therefore not very common ... it is not a reason to put your fingers all over the doors and drive fast in the garage to hear the engine, in addition, it was not necessary to be two to park it and take pictures... also, a little disappointed with the response of the manager (one in the evening and one in the morning) who both told me that he was sorry and that they would pass the information on I would have hoped for better ... ?not a good experience in this hotel ?

We rented a rather large house from their rental program. It was our first time visiting the area. We really enjoyed the big open beach and the amount of space for the number of people as well as the wonderful swimming pool. The amenities are nice as well. There were only two small complaints. And this is not the fault of the resort, but the mosquito population represents an attacking infestation that we have not encountered anywhere in the United States. Our entire group was eaten to bits and pieces with welts all over. We simply did not see it coming when we took our first walk. The only reason I mention it here is because you want to bring bug spray whatever trusted brand you have, bring it and use the hell out of it. The other issues pertained to the house specifically. There was no internet when we arrived in 24 hours past before they sorted it out but they did try really hard to sort it out the second day and they did get there so we were grateful. That was deferred maintenance and the appliances did not work very well, but we were happy with our choice and our stay and we would certainly come again. This time prepared for the onslaught of mosquitoes and no-seeums.

We had a double queen room with a balcony overlooking the pools. It was beautiful!
Everyone was friendly and helpful even the employees who were unable understand us, they would smile kindly and ask you to wait while they activated a translator on their phones so they could help.

Not worth the money! Just stayed a long weekend at the Wild Dunes and was given a room in B building. I ended up paying with taxes and fees roughly $500/night...in the off season. My room was a great view of dug up dirt lot at a beach resort. And the hotel was far from being full. The room was very dated. I couldn't find staff members at the beach to get chairs and umbrella. Not the same resort I stayed at years ago.
